Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
KrP encodes a nuclear, sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor of the C2H2 Krueppel-type zinc-finger family that functions as a gap-class regulator of early Drosophila embryonic patterning. The gene produces alternatively spliced protein isoforms, and the encoded protein contains a C-terminal array of C2H2 zinc-finger DNA-binding motifs together with an N-terminal alanine-rich repression region that is sufficient to confer transcriptional repression activity in heterologous reporter assays. During development, KrP activity helps establish proper anterior-posterior segmentation by regulating downstream target genes, and it is additionally required beyond its segmental role for aspects of tissue differentiation, including contributions to nervous system development and Malpighian tubule morphogenesis, consistent with its broader role as a transcriptional regulator that can act in repression and context-dependent control of gene expression.
