Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please, remember to spin tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from lyophilized material adhering to the cap or sides of the tubes.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
LUX encodes a plant-specific single-repeat MYB (GARP/SHAQKYF-type) transcription factor that localizes to the nucleus and binds DNA via a conserved ~52 amino-acid, helix-turn-helix-like MYB DNA-binding domain (with key residues in the recognition helix mediating direct base readout), while the remainder of the protein is predominantly non-enzymatic regulatory sequence consistent with transcriptional control roles. As an evening-phased core component of the Arabidopsis circadian system, LUX functions as the DNA-binding module of the Evening Complex together with ELF3 and ELF4, enabling sequence-specific promoter association and transcriptional repression of clock and output genes to maintain robust oscillations and proper timing of rhythmic gene expression; loss-of-function alleles cause severe circadian arrhythmia and associated developmental phenotypes (e.g., altered hypocotyl growth and accelerated flowering). In addition to clock loop regulation through direct control of targets such as PRR9, LUX links circadian timing to physiology by directly repressing autophagy-related gene transcription in a time-of-day-dependent manner, thereby shaping daily autophagy rhythms and starvation resilience.
