Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Cyclotella sp., Thalassiosira pseudonana
Lhcx6, part of the Lhcx subclade of fucoxanthin chlorophyll a c light harvesting proteins in algae such as diatoms, is an inducible stress responsive antenna protein that modulates nonphotochemical quenching to protect photosystems under high light, nutrient stress, or temperature shifts. Lhcx6 binds fucoxanthin and chlorophylls in a membrane scaffold to capture light and dissipate excess excitation as heat, stabilizing thylakoid function and preventing reactive oxygen species buildup. Its expression increases during acclimation to fluctuating light and is regulated by redox and photoreceptor signals, coordinating with other Lhcx isoforms to tune photoprotection capacity. Perturbation of Lhcx6 alters quenching dynamics, electron transport balance, and growth, highlighting its role in flexible antenna regulation and stress resilience in marine phytoplankton.
