Western blot analysis of MAFF/MAFG/MAFK in 293T, A431, HeLa, HepG2 (30 µg). Samples were separated with 15% SDS-PAGE, incubated with MAFF/MAFG/MAFK Recombinant Monoclonal antibody (Product # MA573992) at a dilution of 1:1,000 and detected with HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody and Trident femto Western HRP Substrate.

MAFF, MAFG, and MAFK encode the "small Maf" (sMaf) proteins, a group of highly conserved basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factors that lack intrinsic transactivation domains. They function primarily as obligate dimerization partners: as homodimers they generally repress transcription, whereas as heterodimers with CNC proteins (e.g., NFE2/NRF1/NRF2) or Bach factors they regulate gene expression at antioxidant response and NF-E2-like elements, including genes involved in erythropoiesis and oxidative stress responses.
