MG-H1 is a gene that encodes a protein called Methylglyoxal-derived hydroimidazolone-1 (MG-H1). This protein is formed as a result of the reaction between methylglyoxal, a highly reactive molecule that is produced during various metabolic processes, and proteins in the body. MG-H1 is known to be involved in various pathological conditions, such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease. It is also believed to play a role in the aging process by contributing to the accumulation of damage in cells and tissues.
