Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
Specific Species Reactivity: N-YFP tagged proteins from Arabidopsis thaliana, Escherichia coli, Nicotiana tabacum
N-YFP is an engineered, non-native coding sequence derived from Aequorea victoria yellow fluorescent protein and used as a genetically encoded reporter tag in living cells; in typical applications it is expressed from plasmid or integrated constructs and localizes according to the fused protein partner, with fluorescence generally detectable throughout the cytosol and nucleus unless the fusion imposes specific targeting. Structurally, N-YFP denotes the N-terminal split fragment of YFP, commonly corresponding to amino acids 1-158, which by itself is non-fluorescent but can reconstitute a functional fluorophore when brought into close proximity with the complementary C-terminal YFP fragment, enabling bimolecular fluorescence complementation readouts. Functionally, N-YFP serves as a protein-fragment complementation reporter to visualize and spatially map protein-protein interactions in vivo and to support live-cell imaging/quantitation workflows; full-length YFP variants used in related constructs (e.g., Venus YFP carrying the A206K monomerizing substitution) are similarly employed as fluorescent fusion partners for noninvasive detection and tracking of recombinant proteins in cells.
