Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Kandelia obovata, Oryza sativa, Solanum lycopersicum, Vitis vinifera
Na H antiporters are membrane transport proteins in plants that exchange cytosolic sodium for protons to regulate ion homeostasis, pH, and salt tolerance. They include plasma membrane SOS1 type exporters that remove sodium from cells and vacuolar NHX type transporters that sequester sodium into vacuoles, both driven by proton gradients generated by H ATPases and H pyrophosphatases. By lowering cytosolic sodium and balancing potassium, Na H antiporters protect enzymes, maintain turgor, and support growth under salinity stress. Their activity is regulated by calcium dependent SOS signaling, phosphorylation, and changes in membrane potential and pH, and expression increases with salt exposure and hormone cues. Genetic enhancement of these antiporters improves salt tolerance, yield stability, and nutrient use by strengthening ion compartmentation and osmotic adjustment.
