Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
Specific Species Reactivity: Agostis stolonifera cv. Penncross™, Arabidopsis thaliana, Glycine max (roots)
PR 2 is a pathogenesis related protein class in plants that primarily includes beta 1,3 glucanases which hydrolyze fungal cell wall glucans and contribute to defense. Induced by salicylic acid, ethylene, and pathogen attack, PR 2 accumulates in the apoplast and vacuole to restrict fungal growth, release elicitor fragments, and enhance systemic acquired resistance. Beyond immunity, PR 2 can influence cell wall remodeling, development, and pollen tube growth, with isoforms showing tissue specific expression and differing catalytic properties. Overexpression often increases resistance to biotrophic fungi, while altered regulation can affect growth tradeoffs due to changes in wall dynamics and signaling.
