Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Echinochloa crus-galli,, Oryza sativa, Panicum miliaceum, Pisum sativum, Zea mays
LHCB1 encodes a nucleus-derived light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b-binding apoprotein that is imported into chloroplasts and accumulates in the thylakoid membrane, where it is a major constituent of the trimeric light-harvesting complex II (LHCII) associated primarily with photosystem II in grana membranes. Structurally, LHCB1 is a small, highly abundant integral membrane protein of the chlorophyll a/b-binding (LHC) family that folds into a characteristic LHCII architecture with three membrane-spanning helices and stromal/lumenal loops that coordinate chlorophylls and carotenoids to form a stable pigment-protein antenna; LHCB1 monomers assemble into homo- and heterotrimers (with related LHCII subunits) that contribute to thylakoid macro-organization, including grana stacking. Functionally, LHCB1 expands the absorption cross-section of photosystem II by harvesting light and funnelling excitation energy to the reaction center, while also supporting photoprotection and acclimation by shaping LHCII abundance and thylakoid membrane structure during changing light conditions and phosphorylation-driven state transitions that redistribute antenna capacity between photosystems.
