Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Chlamydomonas reinhardtii
Pre-apoplastocyanin encodes a nuclear-synthesized precursor of plastocyanin that is post-translationally imported into chloroplasts and ultimately localized as a soluble electron-transfer protein in the thylakoid lumen. It is produced in the cytosol as a larger preprotein bearing an N-terminal bipartite targeting region: a chloroplast transit peptide required for envelope import, followed by a thylakoid transfer domain that mediates translocation across the thylakoid membrane; during trafficking, the targeting sequence is removed by sequential processing steps (first to a stromal intermediate and then to the mature lumenal form). The mature protein is a small copper-binding cupredoxin-type carrier that shuttles single electrons from the cytochrome b6f complex (via cytochrome f) to photosystem I, thereby supporting light-driven photosynthetic electron flow and sustaining photoautotrophic growth in plants.
