In direct ELISAs, approximately 30% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Protegenin is observed.
Reconstitute in sterile PBS to a final concentration of 0.2 mg/mL.
Protogenin, encoded by the PRTG gene, is a cell surface protein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and plays a critical role in neural development. Protogenin is involved in cell adhesion and signaling pathways that regulate processes such as neurogenesis, neuronal migration, and the establishment of neural circuits during embryonic development. Its expression is predominantly observed in the developing nervous system, where it facilitates interactions between cells and the extracellular matrix, contributing to the proper formation of brain structures. Protogenin's function in regulating cellular communication is essential for maintaining the balance between stem cell renewal and differentiation in neural tissues. Dysregulation or mutations in the PRTG gene can lead to developmental abnormalities and have been investigated for their potential connections to neurodevelopmental disorders. Research continues to explore protogenin's mechanisms and interaction networks to better understand its contributions to neural development and its potential as a therapeutic target in developmental disorders.
