Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.

PsaB encodes one of the two large, homologous reaction-center core proteins of photosystem I and is an integral component of the thylakoid membrane in oxygenic photosynthetic organisms, where it assembles as a heterodimer with PsaA to form the central photochemical core. The PsaB polypeptide is a highly hydrophobic, multi-pass membrane protein of roughly 730 amino acids that contributes about 11 transmembrane helices to the photosystem I core architecture and provides conserved stromal loop motifs that help coordinate key redox cofactors. Functionally, the PsaA/PsaB heterodimer binds P700 (the primary chlorophyll a special pair) and organizes the early electron-transfer chain, enabling light-driven charge separation and vectorial electron transfer from P700 through the sequential acceptors A0 (a chlorophyll a), A1 (a phylloquinone), and the intersubunit 4Fe-4S cluster FX, thereby supporting plastocyanin/cytochrome c6-dependent electron donation on the lumenal side and delivery of electrons toward terminal iron-sulfur acceptors (via PsaC) for reduction of ferredoxin during photosynthesis.
