Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.

psbC is a conserved plastid/cyanobacterial gene that encodes the Photosystem II CP43 (44 kDa) core antenna protein, a multi-pass integral thylakoid-membrane polypeptide embedded in the Photosystem II reaction-center complex. CP43 is predicted to comprise multiple transmembrane helices connected by stromal and lumen-exposed loops, with conserved residues implicated in coordinating chlorophyll cofactors, and it contributes a substantial fraction of the intrinsic light-harvesting capacity of the Photosystem II core by binding chlorophyll a. Functionally, CP43 expands the absorption cross-section of Photosystem II and funnels excitation energy toward the reaction center to drive charge separation and downstream electron transfer that powers oxygenic photosynthesis; genetic removal of CP43 yields Photosystem II core complexes with reduced antenna size yet retaining primary photochemistry, consistent with a principal role in pigment binding and excitation-energy delivery rather than being strictly required for quinone acceptor activity. In cyanobacteria and chloroplast genomes, psbC is typically organized adjacent to psbD and can overlap it, reflecting coordinated expression of Photosystem II core components.
