Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please, remember to spin tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from lyophilized material adhering to the cap or sides of the tubes.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Chlamydomonas reinhardtii
psbO encodes the oxygen-evolving enhancer protein 1 (PsbO), a soluble extrinsic subunit of photosystem II that is targeted to chloroplasts and localizes on the lumenal face of the thylakoid membrane as part of the oxygen-evolving complex. PsbO is synthesized as a precursor bearing an N-terminal targeting peptide that is removed during import, yielding a mature ~33 kDa lumenal protein. Structurally, PsbO is dominated by a beta-barrel framework with prominent loop regions (often described as a flexible "head" domain) and contains a conserved disulfide bond that contributes to protein stability. Functionally, PsbO is broadly conserved across oxygenic photosynthetic organisms and is required to support efficient light-driven water oxidation by stabilizing and shielding the Mn4CaO5 catalytic cluster and helping maintain the proper ionic environment for oxygen evolution; it interacts with lumen-exposed regions of core photosystem II subunits (including D1, D2, CP43, and CP47) and contributes to overall oxygen-evolving complex integrity and activity.
