Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6803, Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii CS-505
RPS1, also called ribosomal protein S1, is a plastid ribosome component in plants that binds messenger RNA to facilitate translation initiation and scanning on chloroplast transcripts. It interacts with RNA leader regions and other small subunit proteins to stabilize mRNA docking and promote accurate start site selection, supporting synthesis of photosynthetic and housekeeping proteins in the chloroplast. RPS1 levels and activity adjust with chloroplast development, light conditions, and stress, linking translational capacity to acclimation of photosystems and metabolism. Perturbation of RPS1 impairs plastid protein production, leading to reduced photosynthetic efficiency, chlorosis, and growth defects due to compromised chloroplast translation.
