Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Phaseolus vulgaris
SPSC encodes an Arabidopsis thaliana sucrose-phosphate synthase family enzyme that is predominantly cytosolic and functions in primary carbon metabolism by catalyzing sucrose-6-phosphate formation from UDP-glucose and fructose-6-phosphate, a key regulatory step of sucrose biosynthesis that links photosynthetic carbon export in the light and starch-to-sucrose conversion at night; consistent with this role, Arabidopsis SPSC is one of four partially redundant SPS isoforms whose combined activity is important for normal growth, respiration, and carbon partitioning. The SPSC protein is a large, soluble glycosyltransferase of the GT4 superfamily, built around a conserved N-terminal catalytic glucosyltransferase region with characteristic nucleotide-sugar binding features and an extended C-terminal region found in plant SPS proteins that contributes to regulation and functional diversification, with multiple serine residues reported as phosphorylation sites, supporting regulation by reversible phosphorylation in response to cellular and environmental cues.
