Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
SRK2E encodes a plant-specific SNF1-related protein kinase 2 that functions in Arabidopsis stress and hormone signaling; it is a soluble, calcium-independent serine/threonine kinase that primarily operates in the nucleus and cytoplasm as part of abscisic acid (ABA)-responsive pathways. The protein is organized around an N-terminal catalytic kinase domain typical of eukaryotic protein kinases, followed by a C-terminal regulatory region required for stimulus-dependent activation; functional dissection of this C-terminus indicates separable modules that differentially support ABA-dependent versus ABA-independent (osmotic stress) activation, and the ABA-specific portion mediates interaction with the PP2C phosphatase ABI1. Biologically, SRK2E acts as a positive regulator of ABA-induced stomatal closure and broader drought/osmotic stress responses: genetic disruption impairs ABA control of stomatal aperture, while SnRK2 pathway disruption compromises drought tolerance and ABA-responsive gene regulation, consistent with SRK2E functioning upstream of stress-responsive transcriptional programs and water-conservation physiology.
