Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Triticum aestivum
STN8 encodes a chloroplast-targeted, thylakoid-associated serine/threonine protein kinase that is embedded in the thylakoid membrane as an integral membrane protein and assembles into higher-order molecular complexes within the photosynthetic membrane system. ([ncbi.nlm.nih.gov](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/831741?utm_source=openai)) The protein contains a conserved protein kinase catalytic domain typical of eukaryotic Ser/Thr kinases (ATP-binding and active-site motifs) and is positioned to act on membrane-proximal substrates involved in photosystem organization and turnover. ([ncbi.nlm.nih.gov](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/831741?utm_source=openai)) Functionally, STN8 predominantly phosphorylates photosystem II (PSII) core components-particularly N-terminal threonine residues of the D1, D2, and CP43 proteins and Thr4 of PsbH in a light-dependent manner-thereby contributing to dynamic PSII regulation, including aspects of PSII stability and the PSII repair cycle under changing light conditions.
