Working Concentration: 1/1K. Sensitivity: 10 ng/mL Secobarbital produces 52% inhibition in a competitive ELISA employing Secobarbital polyclonal antibody.
Secobarbital is a barbiturate derivative drug only found in individuals that have used the drug. It possesses anaesthetic, anticonvulsant, sedative and hypnotic properties. In the United Kingdom, it was known as Quinalbarbitone. Secobarbital binds at a distinct binding site associated with a Cl- ionopore at the GABAA receptor, increasing the duration of time for which the Cl- ionopore is open. The post-synaptic inhibitory effect of GABA in the thalamus is, therefore, prolonged. [National Center for Biotechnology Information. PubChem Compound Database; CID=5193].
