Trifloxystrobin is a broad-spectrum foliar fungicide belonging to the strobilurin family, primarily used to protect crops such as fruits, vegetables, turf, and ornamentals from fungal diseases. Structurally, it features two oxime linkages exhibiting geometrical isomerism, with the commercial form being the E,E-isomer. Its hydrolysis half-life varies significantly with pH, being stable at pH 5, 11.4 weeks at pH 7, and 27 hours at pH 9. Functionally, trifloxystrobin inhibits nitrification and denitrification processes in soil microorganisms, affecting soil bacterial community structure and reducing carbon sequestration capabilities. It is also known to inhibit urease activity while promoting dehydrogenase activity in soil. Trifloxystrobin is a mild eye and skin irritant and a strong dermal sensitizer in guinea pigs, with potential microscopic abnormalities observed in liver and spleen at high concentrations in subchronic toxicity studies.
