In model organisms like mice and Drosophila, ZMYND10 expression is restricted to tissues and cells with motile cilia, such as chordotonal sensory neurons and sperm cells. Additionally, ZMYND10 has been identified as an epigenetically regulated tumor suppressor in various cancers, with its downregulation affecting processes like cell proliferation and tumor progression. The gene's dual role in ciliary function and tumorigenesis underlines its importance in both normal cellular physiology and disease pathology.
