5-meCpA Antibody Specifity Dot blot analysis was used to confirm the specificity of 5-meCpA antibody for the 5-meCpA dinucleotide. Single-stranded DNA oligonucleotides (amount of oligo in nanograms listed on the left side of the blot) were spotted on to a positively charged nylon membrane and blotted with 5-meCpA (1 µg/ml dilution).

Methylation of CpA (mCpA) generates a DNA pyrimidine with a methyl group in the 5-carbon position. DNA methylation is usually catalyzed by DNA methyltransferases generally at CpG dinucleotide positions, though non-CpG methylation has also been reported at CpA and CpT sites. DNA methylation is known to repress gene expression.
