Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 200 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
AKINB2 encodes the Arabidopsis thaliana SNF1-related protein kinase (SnRK1) regulatory subunit beta-2, a non-catalytic component that associates with SnRK1 alpha catalytic and gamma regulatory subunits to form heterotrimeric kinase complexes that act as central metabolic sensors. The AKINB2 protein is characterized by the conserved AMPK/SNF1 beta-subunit interaction module (including regions that mediate binding to partner subunits and assembly of the holoenzyme), supporting its adaptor-like role in complex formation and target engagement rather than intrinsic enzymatic activity. In plants, SnRK1 complexes are activated under energy limitation and diverse environmental stresses to reprogram transcription and metabolism, promoting catabolic pathways and restricting energy-consuming biosynthesis; consistent with this framework, AKINB2 is thought to contribute to SnRK1 complex integrity, subcellular distribution and/or substrate specificity, thereby tuning downstream responses that coordinate carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and broader stress adaptation in vivo.
