PA1-27149 detects Candida albicans from a wide range of yeast samples. PA1-27149 will not react with human serum, urine, or spinal fluid.
PA1-27149 has been successfully used in ELISA, IHC and Western blot procedures.

Candida albicans is the most frequently isolated fungal pathogen of humans, affecting immuocompromised patients ranging from premature infants to AIDS sufferers. Systemic infections have an attributed mortality of 30-50%. C. albicans is a diploid organism which has eight sets of homologous chromosomes. Its genome size is about 16 Mb (haploid), about 30% greater than S. cerevisiae (baker's yeast).
