Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Olea europaea (pollen)
Cu ZnSOD, also called Copper Zinc Superoxide Dismutase, is an antioxidant enzyme in plants that catalyzes the conversion of superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen, protecting cells from oxidative damage. It typically resides in the cytosol and chloroplasts, requiring copper and zinc as catalytic and structural cofactors, and functions alongside catalase and peroxidases that remove hydrogen peroxide. Cu ZnSOD activity supports photosynthesis, respiration, and stress tolerance during drought, salinity, high light, and pathogen challenge. Its expression and activity are regulated by metal availability, redox status, and microRNAs such as miR398, and changes in Cu ZnSOD levels influence growth, development, and resilience by maintaining redox balance and safeguarding proteins, lipids, and membranes.
