Immunohistochemistry analysis of GPR101 was performed on enteric ganglion tissue. G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs, or GPRs) contain 7 transmembrane domains and transduce extracellular signals through heterotrimeric G proteins. Expression of GPR101 has been documented by Northern analysis in human hypothalamus, caudate, and putamen but not in thalamus, hippocampus, frontal cortex, or pons.
