Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 100 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Dinoroseobacter shibae, Rhodobacter capsulatus, Ruegeria pomeroyi DSS-3
GTA MCP refers to the major capsid protein of gene transfer agents, phage like particles produced by some bacteria that package and transfer random fragments of host DNA between cells. In plant related studies, GTA MCP is typically detected in plant associated bacteria within the microbiome or in pathogens, not in plant genomes. These particles facilitate horizontal gene transfer, shaping microbial adaptation, antibiotic resistance spread, and metabolic diversity in the plant environment. The MCP forms the protective shell of the GTA, determines particle size and stability, and is regulated by stress, quorum signals, and nutrient status. Monitoring GTA MCP and related genes helps assess microbial gene flow in soils and plant surfaces, and their activity can influence plant health indirectly through effects on microbial community dynamics.
