Ig Kappa Light Chain is one of the two types of immunoglobulin light chains that pair with heavy chains to form complete antibodies produced by B cells and plasma cells. Kappa light chains play a key role in antigen recognition and normal immune function, and they are typically produced in slightly higher amounts than lambda light chains in healthy individuals. Measurement of free or bound kappa light chains, particularly the kappa-to-lambda ratio, is widely used in the diagnosis and monitoring of plasma cell disorders such as multiple myeloma, monoclonal gammopathy, and light chain amyloidosis.
