Isofetamid is a novel fungicide developed by Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd., belonging to the class of succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs). It is effective against a variety of plant diseases such as gray mold, white mold, and powdery mildew. Isofetamid operates by inhibiting the succinate dehydrogenase enzyme, which is crucial for fungal respiration and energy production. Despite the emergence of some SDHI-resistant fungal isolates, isofetamid remains potent against most strains. Its practical application has been demonstrated in both greenhouse and field trials, showcasing high preventive efficacy. Furthermore, an immunochromatographic test strip has been developed for monitoring isofetamid residues in crops, ensuring safe levels in agricultural produce.
