Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
PIF5 encodes a plant nuclear transcription factor that accumulates in darkness and functions as a central node in phytochrome-dependent light signaling in Arabidopsis. The protein is a basic helix-loop-helix DNA-binding factor with a C-terminal bHLH region that mediates sequence-specific binding to G-box class cis-elements in target promoters, and it carries an N-terminal active phytochrome B binding (APB) motif that confers selective interaction with the photoactivated phyB photoreceptor and supports rapid red-light-triggered phosphorylation and proteasome-dependent turnover. Functionally, PIF5 helps couple environmental light and photoperiod cues to transcriptional reprogramming that shapes early seedling development and growth, and it directly promotes dark-induced leaf senescence and chlorophyll catabolism by activating senescence-associated regulators and chlorophyll breakdown genes (for example via G-box-dependent control of ORE1 and SGR/NYC1 pathway components).
