PA3-151 detects proteolipid protein in mouse samples.
PA3-151 has been used successfully in Western blot and immunocytochemistry procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects a ~23-26 kDa proteins representing the proteolipid protein and the splice variant DM20 in adult mouse brain samples.
The PA3-151 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal residues K(269) L M G R G T K(276) of PLP.
PLP1 is a transmembrane proteolipid protein that is the predominant myelin protein present in the central nervous system. It may play a role in the compaction, stabilization, and maintenance of myelin sheaths, as well as in oligodendrocyte development and axonal survival. Mutations in this gene cause X-linked Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms or having different 5' UTRs, have been identified for this gene. This gene encodes a transmembrane proteolipid protein that is the predominant myelin protein present in the central nervous system.
