At least three isoforms of PPARGC1A are known to exist; this antibody only detects the longest isoform. PA5-38021 is predicted to react with pig and bovine based on 100% sequence homology.
Recommended positive controls: Human liver tissue/lysate, mouse liver tissue.
PGC1 alpha is a transcriptional coactivator that regulates the genes involved in energy metabolism. It interacts with PPARgamma, which permits it's interaction with multiple transcription factors. PGC-1 Alpha can interact with, and regulate the activities of, cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) and nuclear respiratory factors (NRFs). It provides a direct link between external physiological stimuli and the regulation of mitochondrial biogenesis, and is a major factor that regulates muscle fiber type determination. It may be also involved in controlling blood pressure, regulating cellular cholesterol homoeostasis, and the development of obesity.
