Eph kinases, like ephrin B family members, have a single transmembrane domain that includes the catalytic domain and protein-protein interaction motifs. Ephrins are cell surface molecules attached by either a GPI anchor such as ephrin A family members, or a single transmembrane domain (ephrin B family members) that serve as ligands for cell surface receptor tyrosine kinases in the Eph A and B families.
