PA1-26646 detects MEK1 + MEK2 (phospho S222) from human, mouse, and rat samples. PA1-26646 is expected to cross react with chicken, chimpanzee, and Xenopus laevis due to sequence homology.
PA1-26646 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
The PA1-26646 immunogen is a synthetic phosphopeptide corresponding to a portion of human MEK 1 + 2 containing serine 222. The sequence is conserved in many species including mouse, rat, chimp, chicken, frog, and others.
MEK 1 (MAP Kinase Kinase, also known as MKK) is an integral component of the MAP kinase cascade that regulates cell growth and differentiation (Ahn, 1993; Chong et al., 2003). In brain, this pathway also plays a key role in synaptic (Adams and Sweatt, 2002). Activated MEK 1 acts as a dual specificity kinase phosphorylating both a threonine and a tyrosine residue on MAP kinase (Kyriakis et al., 1991; Seger et al., 1991; Crews et al., 1992).
