This antibody is predicted to react with human based on sequence homology.
Plant phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the irreversible β-carboxylation of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to produce oxaloacetate, a key intermediate in carbon metabolism. PEPC plays a central role in photosynthetic carbon fixation in C4 and CAM plants and also contributes to anaplerotic carbon replenishment, nitrogen assimilation, organic acid biosynthesis, and plant responses to environmental stresses in both C3 and C4 species. The enzyme is tightly regulated through allosteric effectors and reversible phosphorylation, enabling plants to coordinate carbon flux with developmental and environmental demands. Because of its essential role in primary metabolism and photosynthesis, plant PEPC is widely studied in plant physiology, crop improvement, and metabolic engineering.
