Predicted to react with bovine, mouse and zebrafish based on sequence homology.
For the detection of phosphoproteins, tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors such as 1mM sodium orthovanadate should be added to the sample buffer. Milk or other casein-based blocking solutions are not recommended as casein is a phosphoprotein and its use can result in high background. In Western blot, this antibody detects a band at ~55 kDa on lysates from human dorsal Raphe nucleus.

Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) is a member of the pterin-dependent aromatic acid hydroxylase family. It catalyzes the first and rate limiting step in the biosynthesis of serotonin, an important hormone and neurotransmitter. TPH is expressed predominantly in the brain stem. Mutations in this gene may be associated with psychiatric diseases such as bipolar affective disorder and major depression.
