HYB 300-05-02 detects Polio component type III virus in human samples. This antibody does not cross-react with Polio component types 1 or 2.
HYB 300-05-02 has been successfully used in ELISA procedures. It is recommended that this antibody is used in a sandwich assay with HYB 300-06-02 as the catching antibody and biotinylated HYB 300-05-02 as the detection antibody.
The HYB 300-05-02 immunogen is an inactivated Poliovirus type III.
NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL
Poliovirus is a single-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the Picornavirus family, characterized by their small RNA genome (7.2bk to 8.5 kb). Poliovirus is a enterovirus which primarily infects the gastroentestinal assiciated lymphoid tissue (GALT) and can eventually spread to the central nervous system, causing paralysis. Mortality, though very rare, is usually due to respiratory failure by paralysis of the intercostal muscles and diaphragm. There are three separate types of the virus: Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.
