HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY UCK2 (RC202406, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 µg per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-UCK2. (1. Positive lysates LY402221 (100 µg) and LC402221 (20 µg) can be purchased separately from OriGene.

UCK2 catalyzes the phosphorylation of uridine monophosphate to uridine diphosphate. This is the first step in the production of the pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphates required for RNA and DNA synthesis. In addition, an allele of this gene may play a role in mediating nonhumoral immunity to Hemophilus influenzae type B.
