Western blot analysis of c-Rel on mouse tissue lysate using 100 µg per lane. Lanes contained the following samples, 1: mouse liver, 2: mouse brain, 3: mouse heart, 4: mouse kidney, 5: mouse lung, 6: mouse thymus, 7: mouse spleen, 8: mouse testis, 9: mouse HeLa. The sample was probed with a c-Rel polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-68782) using a primary antibody dilution of 1:1000. and a secondary antibody dilution of 1:10,000

The REL gene encodes c-Rel, a transcription factor that is a member of the Rel/NFKB family, which also includes RELA., RELB (604758), NFKB1, and NFKB2. These proteins are related through a highly conserved N-terminal region termed the 'Rel domain, ' which is responsible for DNA binding, dimerization, nuclear localization, and binding to the NFKB inhibitor (Belguise and Sonenshein, 2007).
