eIF4B Antibody (A301-766A) in IP
Detection of human eIF4B by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells. Antibody: Affinity purified rabbit anti-eIF4B antibody A301-766A used for IP at 3 µg/mg lysate. eIF4B was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-eIF4B antibody A301-767A, which recognizes a downstream epitope. For blotting immunoprecipitated eIF4B, A301-767A was used at 1 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 seconds.

The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B (eIF4B) plays a critical role in recruiting the 40S ribosomal subunit to the mRNA. It functions in close association with eIF4F and eIF4A. It binds near the 5'-terminal cap of mRNA in the presence of eIF4F and ATP. It promotes the ATPase activity and the ATP-dependent RNA unwinding activity of both eIF4A and eIF4F.
