About This Kit
The Mouse IL-6R (Interleukin 6 Receptor) ELISA quantitates IL-6R in serum and plasma.
Principle of the method
The Mouse Interleukin 6 Receptor (IL-6R) solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the concentration of Interleukin 6 Receptor (IL-6R) in biological samples. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody.
The sandwich complex is formed by the addition of a second (HRP-linked) detection antibody specific to Interleukin 6 Receptor (IL-6R). Excess reagents are washed from the plate.
A substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce a measurable signal. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution. The intensity of the signal, measured spectrophotometrically at 450 ± 2 nm, is directly proportional to the concentration of Interleukin 6 Receptor (IL-6R) present in the original specimen.

Target information
Interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), also known as CD126 (Cluster of Differentiation 126), is a type I cytokine receptor. This gene encodes a subunit of the interleukin 6 (IL6) receptor complex. Interleukin 6 is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation and plays an important role in the immune response. The IL6 receptor is a protein complex consisting of this protein and interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130/IL6-beta), a receptor subunit also shared by many other cytokines. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 9.
