Optimize custody transfer, station control, and critical point monitoring

Accuracy and repeatability are essential in oil and gas transactions, such as transferring hydrocarbons between operators or to end users. The Thermo Scientific AutoFLEX Flow Computer and Thermo Scientific AutoCONFIG Software provide comprehensive flow calculations for custody transfer applications, compliant with API standards. With 8MB memory, the AutoFLEX Flow Computer manages historical archiving and critical data points, helping to ensure precise measurement and control. The platform integrates functions like flow control, pressure regulation, and overpressure protection, simplifying configuration and deployment. It supports Ethernet and serial communications, helping to ensure efficient data integration and product delivery, while minimizing errors and discrepancies

Custody transfer

With 8MB of memory, the AutoFLEX Flow Computer is capable of managing all of your custody transfer historical archiving along with the capacity to store multiple critical data points in their own historical archive. In addition to memory space, the AutoFLEX Flow Computer provides accurate and repeatable measurement to help ensure maximum monitoring and control of lost and unaccounted for gas and liquids. Our hardware components and transmitter minimize measurement errors, helping to reduce accounting adjustments and discrepancies.

Accuracy and repeatability in hydrocarbon transactions

A critical component of oil and gas operations is accuracy and repeatability during transactions involving transporting hydrocarbons from one operator to another or to its final end user.  These transactions occur at various points during the oil and gas value chain such as tanks to tankers, tankers to ships, and tanks to pipelines. Our AutoFLEX Flow Computer combined with our AutoCONFIG Software provides a full suite of flow calculations to manage virtually any custody transfer application within the value chain. Our library contains both natural gas and liquid calculations that comply with the latest API Chapter 21.1 and 21.2 standards.

Station control

Station control is a powerful, centralized automation hub that seamlessly coordinates flow, pressure, and safety systems, helping to deliver smarter, safer, and more efficient operation of oil and gas stations—all while maximizing reliability and performance.

Optimize natural gas metering stations

Natural gas metering stations are a central link in transporting product from the pipeline to downstream users like power plants, processing plants, and local distribution companies. Within this link there are multiple data points that require cohesive operation to minimize disruptions and maintain worker safety. The AutoFLEX platform is designed to coordinate all the functions for the quality and quantity of gas being transferred in a pipeline.

Streamline flow control and pressure management

Functions such as flow control, pressure reduction, pressure regulation, and overpressure protection are combined into one simple “Station Control” function within our AutoCONFIG Software, simplifying configuration and field deployment. Easily manipulate the function to address seasonal changes in demand with quick and easy access to critical data points and overview of control schemes. Our scalable platform allows technicians to easily add additional control as the station demands change. Simplified configuration functions allow for simultaneous connection to tertiary equipment such as odorizers, GCs, dewpoint analyzers, and H2S analyzers, creating a single access point to help ensure efficient and effective product delivery.

Critical point monitoring

Critical point monitoring delivers real-time insight into the most vital areas of oil and gas operations, helping to empower teams to spot issues early, boost safety, prevent downtime, and keep systems running at peak performance with confidence.

Seamless integration

Oil and gas plants need critical point monitoring to help ensure accurate measurement, control, and accounting of product flow. This minimizes disruptions, enhances safety, optimizes operations, and reduces costly errors and discrepancies, and thus helps ensure efficient and reliable delivery of hydrocarbons.

Oil and gas operations have expanded and the number of instruments utilized in the management, control, and accounting of product continues to grow. The AutoFLEX system helps solve the need for efficient and effective deployment of a flow computer to a critical site.

Critical data points integrated into a single data center

Each unit includes two Ethernet ports with speeds up to 1 Gb/s, both supporting simultaneous host and client connections. This facilitates communication to SCADA and tertiary devices. Many legacy instruments do not support Ethernet and continue to rely on serial communications; the AutoFLEX system can support up to 8 serial ports, helping to ensure all critical data points can be integrated into a single data center.
