DNA and RNA extraction is the process of isolating and purifying genetic material from biological samples such as tissues, cells, blood, or other bodily fluids. This involves breaking down cell structures to release nucleic acids, followed by the removal of proteins, lipids, and other contaminants to obtain pure samples of DNA or RNA. It is possible to extract both DNA and RNA simultaneously using specialized extraction kits and protocols designed to preserve the integrity of both types of nucleic acids. These dual extraction methods often involve the use of specific reagents and steps that allow for the sequential or concurrent isolation of high-quality DNA and RNA, facilitating comprehensive genetic analyses from a single sample.
