Purity: > 98% pure by SDS-PAGE analyses.
Activity: The ED50 is determined to be <10 ng/mL in a proliferation assay of 7TD1 mouse hybridoma cells, corresponding to a specific activity of >1x10^5 units/mg.
Use: IL-11 exerts activity in the range of 0.1 to 10 ng/mL for most in vitro applications.
Reconstitution and Dilution: Reconstitute in distilled water to a concentration of 100 µg/mL. After reconstitution, dilute cytokine in a neutral buffer containing carrier protein such as 5-10% FBS or 1-4% high purity BSA (fatty acid free fraction V).
Lyophilized product is stable until expiration if stored desiccated below 0°C. Cytokines diluted as indicated above should be divided into aliquots and stored at -70°C. Recombinant proteins should be stored at concentrations >500 ng/mL to reduce loss of activity.
Interleukins (ILs) are a large group of cytokines that are produced mainly by leukocytes, although some are produced by certain phagocytes and auxiliary cells. ILs have a variety of functions, but most function to direct other immune cells to divide and differentiate. Each IL acts on a specific, limited group of cells through a receptor specific for that IL.
