PEP-105 is a 17 amino acid synthetic peptide whose sequence corresponds to amino acid residues 1-17 of human SCAMP 1. The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus): M (1)-S-D-F-D-S-N-P-F-A-D-P-D-L-N-N-P (17)-C
This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the polyclonal antibody that reacts with this product and human SCAMP 1, catalog # PA1-739. Using a solution of peptide of equal volume and concentration to the corresponding antibody will yield a large molar excess of peptide (~70-fold) for competitive inhibition of antibody-protein binding reactions.
Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.
Secretory carrier membrane proteins (SCAMPs) are proteins that are components of post-Golgi membranes. These ubiquitously expressed proteins are implicated to function in membrane trafficking. In fibroblasts, SCAMPs are concentrated in compartments that are involved in the recycling of cell surface receptors and endocytosis. In neurons, SCAMPs are associated with synaptic vesicles, secretion granules and transporter vesicles. Of the three known SCAMPs, SCAMP 1 is the most abundant. SCAMP 1 has been shown to be required for the full execution of stable exocytosis in mast cells.
