ALKBH5 Antibody (PA5-117781) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescence staining of ALKBH5 in U2OS cells. Cells were fixed with 4% PFA, permeabilzed with 0.1% Triton X-100 in PBS, blocked with 10% serum, and incubated with ALKBH5 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-117781, 1:200) at 4°C overnight. Then cells were stained with the Alexa Fluor®488-conjugated Goat Anti-rabbit IgG secondary antibody (green). Positive staining was localized to nucleus.

ALKBH5 (RNA demehtylase ALKBH5) is a dioxygenase that demethylates RNA by oxidative demethylation. Specifically, it demethylates N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA, the most prevalent internal modification of messenger RNA (mRNA) in higher eukaryotes. Demethylation of m6A mRNA affects mRNA processing and export. ALKBH5 can also demethylate N(6)-methyladenosine in single-stranded DNA (in vitro). It requires molecular oxygen, alpha-ketoglutarate and iron.
