ASM Antibody (PA5-72432) in WB
Western blot analysis of Acid Sphingomyelinase in HL-60 cell lysate using 20 µg of protein per lane. Samples were first blocked with 5% NFDM/TBST, incubated with Acid Sphingomyelinase polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-72432) using a dilution of 1:1000 followed by a goat anti-rabbit IgG H&L (HRP) secondary antibody with a dilution of 1:10,000.

The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal acid sphingomyelinase that converts sphingomyelin to ceramide. The encoded protein also has phospholipase C activity. Defects in this gene are a cause of Niemann-Pick disease type A (NPA) and Niemann-Pick disease type B (NPB). Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
