CSPG stands for Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan. CSPGs are a type of extracellular matrix molecule found in various tissues, including the nervous system, cartilage, and connective tissues. They consist of a core protein to which chondroitin sulfate chains are attached. CSPGs play important roles in regulating cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion, and tissue organization. In the nervous system, CSPGs are involved in processes such as axon guidance, synaptic plasticity, and the formation of glial scar tissue following injury.
