CTLA-4 Antibody (PA5-112339) in WB

Western Blot analysis of CTLA-4 (CD152) using CTLA-4 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-112339) at a dilution of 1:500. Lane A: K562 whole cell lysate, Lane B: Jurkat whole cell lysate (Lysates/proteins at 20 µMicro;g per lane). The secondary antibody used was a Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Dylight800) at 1:10,000 dilution. Developed using the Odyssey technique and performed under reducing conditions. Predicted band size: 25 kDa. Observed band size: 26 kDa (We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands).

CTLA4 (Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte Antigen 4) is a CD28-family receptor expressed on mainly CD4+ T cells. It binds the same ligands as CD28 (CD80 and CD86 on B cells and dendritic cells), but with higher affinity than CD28. However, in contrast to CD28 which enhances cell function when bound at the same time as the T cell receptor, CTLA4 inhbits the T cell and prevents it from functioning. Intracellular CTLA4 is also found in regulatory T cells and may be important to their function.
