Immunohistochemistry of mouse anti-Contactin antibody. Tissue: Mouse brain. Fixation: Frozen. Primary Antibody: Contractin antibody at 1 µg/mL for 1 hr at RT. Secondary antibody: Peroxidase mouse secondary at 1:10,000 for 45 min at RT. Staining: Contractin as precipitated brown.

Contactin 1 encodes a protein that is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored neuronal membrane protein that functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It may play a role in the formation of axon connections in the developing nervous system. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
